Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Dare Night (the "app") handles your information. We've kept it short because we collect very little.
Short version
- Dare Night does not collect personally identifiable information.
- No accounts, no logins, no cloud sync of your packs or prompts. Your custom content stays on your device.
- No ads. No ad tracking. No third-party advertising SDKs.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
- We use anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting (via Google Firebase) to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. We never collect personal info, prompt content, pack names, or player names.
If those answers cover what you wanted to know, you don't need to read further.
What stays on your device only
The following information is stored locally on your device and never sent to us:
- Your custom packs and the prompts you write
- Packs you import from friends
- Your player names
- Your selected pack, bottle color, and other preferences
- Round counts and other per-session game state
- Your Premium status (cached locally after Google Play confirms purchase)
You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app's data through Android settings, or by uninstalling the app.
What we collect via Google Firebase
To understand how the app is used and to fix bugs, we use two Google Firebase services:
Firebase Analytics
Anonymous usage analytics about how people interact with the app. Specifically:
- Which screens you visit (Play, Packs, Settings, etc.)
- Which packs you play (Classic, Crush, Spicy, etc.)
- Whether you spin with the bottle or wheel
- Whether you reroll prompts
- Whether the paywall is shown, dismissed, or converted to a Premium purchase
- Whether you create, share, or import packs
- Approximate session counts and durations
We do NOT collect:
- Your prompt text (we never see which specific prompts you saw or what you wrote)
- Your pack names or player names
- Your contacts, photos, location, or device identifiers beyond what Google Firebase uses internally
- Any information that could identify you personally
Firebase Crashlytics
When the app crashes on your device, Crashlytics sends us a crash report including:
- A description of what went wrong (technical stack trace)
- Your device model and Android version
- The app version that crashed
These reports help us fix bugs in future updates. They do not include your personal info or game content.
Data location and Google's role
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are services operated by Google. The data we send is processed and stored on Google's servers in the United States. Google's own privacy practices apply to that processing — see Google's privacy policy.
You can opt out of this analytics at the Android OS level via Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization." Note that opting out at the OS level affects analytics across all apps you use, not just Dare Night.
Google Play Billing
When you purchase Dare Night Premium ($2.99 one-time), the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment information. Google Play tells our app whether you've purchased Premium; we cache that fact locally on your device.
Google Play's own privacy practices apply to the purchase itself. See Google's privacy policy.
Sharing packs with friends
When you share a pack you created, the app generates a text block (or an image of the pack) and hands it to Android's system share sheet. We never see what you share. The recipient receives the pack via whatever messaging app you choose (TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, SMS, etc.) — those apps' privacy policies govern that transmission.
When a friend imports a pack into Dare Night, that pack is stored locally on their device. It is never uploaded to us.
Children
Dare Night is intended for users 17 years of age and older, consistent with our Google Play content rating. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, you can clear the app's data via Android settings or contact us at the email above.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Stop using the app at any time (uninstall it)
- Clear all locally-stored data via Android settings
- Opt out of analytics at the OS level (see Firebase Analytics section above)
- Contact us with questions about how your data is handled
If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data protection rights (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), those rights apply to the limited data we collect through Firebase, and you can exercise them by contacting us.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle data, we will update this policy and the "Effective date" above. If the change is significant (e.g., adding a new data collection feature), we will surface a notice in the app on next launch.
